During an event held on the Potomac River around Washington D.C., our great Nations capital, HBF took the opportunity to mix and mingle with military staff again. HBF had the opportunity to pick up two Marine Majors from, literally, the side walk of the Pentagon, in the Hooters Boat, from inside the actual Pentagon Lagoon!
The non-stop helicopter patrol and security around the Capital was exciting. I felt really privileged to spend time and experience a liaison with the two fine Majors. We quickly became friends and you could see them genuinely relax and enjoy themselves as the day of catching fish and telling jokes progressed. I thank Hooters and all of our contributors who make days like this possible. Thanking our heroes is something we can never do enough of as far as I am concerned. I truly enjoy that about my job as much as anything else.
The two Majors brought soldiers out to Hooters of Woodbridge, Va. three different nights while I was in town. One of the Marine Majors from the FLW Potomac event invited HBF and family down to Beaufort S.C. to be a groomsman for his wedding. Great trip for the wife and I to get away. I was honored and we love weddings!
Walk for Life
The Walk for Life, American Cancer Society was a fund raising event held at Northwestern University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Hooters Bass Fishing was invited by the Mayor and his staff to pull our fishing rig into the stadium to show support for the event. This was a wonderful meet and greet with supporters.Thousands of people were in attendance! This event was covered by many local Medias and many proceeds were donated to the A.C.S. Hooters Bass Fishing was honored to show our support. The event was followed by a downtown Festival in Natchitoches. We parked the Hooters Boat at the event and had dinner with the Mayor and his staff. Good people and even better southern hospitality!
Cast for a Cure
“Cast for a Cure.” What a great concept. Hooters Bass Fishing cut its teeth fishing with this charitable group from the beginning. Supporting the efforts of the American Cancer Society through fishing venues is a wonderful concept. Cast for a Cure is a great cause and even better people. Another big thank you from HBF to Mr. John Burke of Cincinnati, Ohio, whom attended the annual “Greg Foster’s Celebrity Golf Tournament.” This event raises proceeds that go to the Cincinnati Recreation Commission which is responsible for the organization of the Greg Foster’s baseball camps for inner city schools.
Mr. Burke sealed the final bid for another auctioned day of guided bass fishing with Brad and Hooters Bass Fishing to benefit this worthwhile cause. Only a heart first company like Hooters could have the vision to combine fishing, fun and an old country boy to benefit society in so many ways. From the heart, “It has truly been a life changing experience to be sponsored by Hooters. It’s been a great privilege and Honor. Thanks Hooters.”

HBF would like to thank a beautiful young lady by the name of Courtney Schiering and a generous Mr. Jim Wanke from Dayton Ohio. Courtney represents the Southern Ohio Chapter of “Team in Training”. This organization represents professionals and athletes who come together to run a grueling 26.2 mile marathon, this one taking place in Columbus, Oh.
Courtney and her team members are not only going to conquer the challenge of this grueling event but they are doing so to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Each team member has individually raised over $1500.00 each to bring with them to the starting line.
Proceeds go toward research to help conquer these devastating illnesses. Courtney contacted HBF to see if auctioning off a day of fishing with yours truly and HBF was possible to help raise proceeds for the Society’s research. How could we refuse! HBF is proud to say that our donated day of guided fishing was the top individual monies raised for this cause at the marathon’s benefit.
A very generous Mr. Jim Wanke from Dayton, Ohio sealed the final bid for a day of fishing. Courtney and her team members have raised over $130,000.00. Thanks Courtney and Jim for the rewarding opportunity. Big thanks to Jeff Recker of Nashville Tn. As well as, Jeff, Marketing Director for myoutdoorstv.com, in conjunction with HBF, who also auctioned off a day of fishing to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
HBF would also like to thank the United Way for their invitation to compete in their very prestigious fund raising tournament in Youngstown, Ohio. Great people, great cause and a stellar event.
In 2008 this celebrity tournament raised $23,000.00 for the Youngstown/ Mahoning Valley United Way. It is an honor to be invited and help benefit such a worthy cause.
The fishing itself was nothing short of incredible. HBF (Hooters Bass Fishing) was teamed up with Youngstown’s own…. Fred Woak. Fred is the radio D.J. for 93.3 The Wolf F.M. Breaking a rod on the last four pound bass we put in the boat, gave Team HOOTERS a five fish limit of 21.46 Lbs. during the event. Best bag of largemouth I have personally ever weighed in a tournament, ever! Team Hooters took 1st place honors.HOOTERS Bass Fishing would like to thank The United Way, all their staff and all the sponsors who contributed to the event. Thanks to my good friend Fred Woak from 93.3 The Wolf who landed the two biggest bass of his life. I hope Fred enjoyed fishing with Hooters as much as we did with him.
Adopt-a-Bass
The annual Dixie Marine’s “Adopt-a-Bass” conservation tournament at Ohio River, Tanners Creek, Indiana has become a huge celebration of anglers, and conservationists. Proceeds from this event go to fish stocking and clean water control. HBF loves this event and comes in support every year as our schedule permits. Great cause.
BASSMASTER's Casting Kids
The BASSMASTER’s “Casting Kids” events have been very rewarding for Hooters Bass Fishing. The Cincinnati and Dayton Boat Shows have hosted the “Casting Kids” events each year. Big Fun! Hundreds of kids compete for scholarships and prizes. This has become a great introduction to many of our Nations youth.
Ohio inner-city schools, in conjunction with the Girl Scouts of America, asked HBF to spend a day with area kids to talk with and take fishing at C.J. Brown reservoir. HBF always looks forward to introducing kids to all the positives surrounding nature.
HBF has received many thanks from the Girl Scouts of America Association and all the inner city school kids that participated the days of fishing at C.J. Brown reservoir. Brad Wall and HBF would like to thank Gary McNeal for his invitation and efforts to share the outdoors with this group of kids that might not otherwise have the opportunity. Gary’s dedication to these kids is nothing short of outstanding and admirable. You truly rock, Gary!
HBF had the privilege to fish with a 13 year old named Bryce Gregory. Bryce was a delightful youth B.A.S.S. Federation member who had volunteered as an observer for an unbalanced field of competitors at a Buckeye Lake senior event.
When he found out he was going to get to fish on the Hooters boat at the pairings meeting he ran and jumped though the crowd shouting, “I drew the Hooters Boat… I drew the Hooters boat!” What a great kid and a blast to fish with. I hope young Bryce enjoyed fishing with HBF as much as we did with him. Fish on Bryce.
The Inaugural Hooters Southern qualifier bass tournament! The Ohio BASS Federation Nation hosted this regional qualifying event at Rocky Fork Lake in southern Ohio and asked Hooters to be the title sponsor. HBF graciously accepted this opportunity. The efforts made by the folks at Ohio Bass Federation were outstanding.

Two days of Hooter gals, big bass and lots of fun at Rocky Fork. Brad Wall finished second overall in this event and contributed his entire winnings, on behalf of Hooters and all of HBF contributing sponsors, back to the federation to help support all of the great things that surround what the Federation does for the community.
