HOOTERS Bass Fishing Tour Highlights HOOTERS Magazine - Bass Report by Brad D. Wall March/April 2006 - Issue 61 Apparently, the late Johnny Cash wasn't the only one who has been "everywhere, man." When Hooters Bass Angler Brad Wall hit the road in 2005, he understood what old Johnny was singing about... It was another incredible year, HBF is convinced that fishing is truly our nation's number one pastime. It brings many people form all walks of life together...Thanking our heroes is something we can never do enough of, as far as I'm concerned...
HOOTERS Bass Fishing and their contributors traveled 43,000 miles and rolled through 20 states, including: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Illinois Maryland, Michigan, Missouri North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia and Canada. Approximately 7.3 million people honked, waved or displayed a “thumbs up” for HOOTERS Bass Fishing (HBF) on the nation’s highways this year. It was another incredible year. HBF is convinced that fishing is truly our nation’s number one pastime. It brings many people from all walks of life together. In 2005, according to Brad, the HOOTERS magazine was the hottest item in all those stops. After every visit to a HOOTERS location, HBF would bring the latest issue to distribute on the trail and the crowds went wild. More than just the HOOTERS magazine, his group handed out caps, bumper stickers, calendars, beverage holders, key floats and thousands of HOOTERS Bass Fishing autograph cards. The letters keep pouring in, too! The HBF team gets lots of email from fans at various stops. A quick trip to the Fort Polk Army Base in Leesville, LA garnered the thanks of the men stationed there and, while the team was practicing in Texas, three soldiers enjoyed a perk, thanks to HBF; a day of fishing on Sam Rayborn and Toledo Bend Reservoirs. “Thanking our heroes is something we can never do enough of, as far as I’m concerned,” said Wall. And then there was that meet-and-greet, signing autographs at the Children ‘s Miracle Network Bass tournament at Lake of the Ozarks. A stranded boater near Manitoulin Island was grateful not only for the tow to the resort, but for the opportunity to pose for pictures with Wall and his group. Highlight of the Tour? Well, it could be when HFB made television history at BassMasters Classic. “Have you ever been on the field, in a huddle, at the Super Bowl? Rode in a car next to the driver during the Daytona 500? Caddied for Tiger Woods during the Masters? Well, that’s just what HBF got to do at the Super Bowl-World Series Stanley Cup-Kentucky Derby of bass fishing —the BassMasters Classic!” The Classic is an event where the top 48 anglers in the world have scraped, clawed and battled an entire year to earn a birth to compete. If nothing else, the HOOTERS Boat brought a smile and raised the spirits of many competitors. A Westerville, Ohio man dropped a note, too, to say how much he enjoyed fishing with Brad during the BASS Federation Ohio Bass Classic. “I had a great time. He is a first-class fisherman and all- around good guy. I think you made a great choice in adding Brad to your family, and as a representative of HOOTERS.” As it happens, we think that, too, and can’t wait to see what Brad gets up to in 2006. Fish on! |
