2008 Tour Update 2 |
|
|
Holy road trip! Our second destination for the 2008 tournament season took HBF all the way down to Choke Canyon Reservoir in Three Rivers, Texas, well below San Antonio. Talk about great advertising billboard miles. This run was over 1400 miles one way!
With snow back in Ohio, and the hands down best largemouth bass location HBF has seen to date, traveling this far was worth every mile. Choke Canyon was the determined qualifying location for the PAA’s Toyotas Bass Classic held at Lake Fork. The top twenty-five anglers finishing in this event fill the remaining 100 angler field for the Texas Classic.
HBF set two new personal best records at this event. First, our largest five fish one day limit of largemouth that weighed nearly 19 lbs. This put HBF in the top twenty five after day one! Secondly, a two day total of 34 lbs! Choke Canyon has absolute dinosaur bass swimming in its depths.
I think Choke Canyon would be a great location for a long overdue fishing trip with some corporate sponsor friends. HBF caught every bass in this event on Reaction Innovations baits. HBF would personally like to thank the PAA for all of their outstanding efforts as well as our two new friends Hector and Dario. Hector and Dario graciously volunteered for observation duties during this pro only event and chaperoned the Hooters boat for the two days of competition.
Two of the best sportsman I’ve ever had the privilege to fish with. Hector and Dario both graciously volunteered to take some awesome video from the back of the Hooters boat during the competition and captured good buddy, James Neggermeyer landing a twelve pound monster next to us during the competition. James landed the beast on 8lb. test line and it took him over 5 minutes, amazing! Congrats to Byron Velvick (CBS Bachelor) as well he also landed an amazing twelve pound bass during the first day of competition as well.
Fish on!
